How to draw Strawberry

A ripe strawberry with a crown of pointed leaves. Draw a rounded heart, curve the rows of seeds round it so they crowd together at the edges, then colour it red with a white shine and let the red deepen gradually on the side away from the light.

How to draw Strawberry

What you need

  • Paper Plain printer paper is perfect.
  • Pencil (HB) For light first shapes you can erase.
  • Black fineliner 0.5 mm, or any black pen.
  • Eraser A soft white eraser.
  • Coloured pencils Any set; sharpen them first.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: A rounded heart

    A rounded heart

    Lightly draw a big rounded heart, point down, tipped a little to the right. Add a line down its middle.

  2. Step 2: Leaves and seed rows

    Leaves and seed rows

    Draw a star of pointed leaves on top with a short stem. Then draw curved rows across the berry, like smiles.

  3. Step 3: Ink the berry

    Ink the leaves first, then the stem, then the berry’s outline, stopping wherever a leaf is in front.

  4. Step 4: Seeds that curve round

    Ink tiny teardrop seeds along the rows, points up. Near the edges, squeeze them closer together and make them thinner.

  5. Step 5: Erase the pencil

    Let the ink dry for a minute, then gently erase every pencil line.

  6. Step 6: Red, green and yellow

    Red, green and yellow

    Colour the berry red, but leave a white shine on its upper left. Colour the leaves green and the seeds yellow.

    Press harder with red on the right side, add purple at its edge, then shadow under the leaves and on the table.
