Terms of service

This is a working draft written for review by counsel before launch. It describes how the product is built today; it is not yet legal advice or a final policy.

The agreement

These terms are between Lapis and the person who holds the account. By making an account you agree to them on behalf of everyone who draws in it.

Accounts

• You must be 18 or older, or 13 to 17 and drawing for yourself. Only a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or older may add a child’s profile.
• Keep your password and family PIN private; you are responsible for activity in your account.
• Tell us straight away if you think someone else is using your account.

Plans, trials and payment

• Lapis has a free plan and paid plans (Plus and Family), billed monthly or yearly.
• New accounts get a 14-day trial of Family without a card. It ends on the free plan by itself.
• Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel at any time in the grown-ups area; the plan continues to the end of the period already paid for.
• Yearly plans bought on the web may be refunded in full within 30 days of purchase. We remind you by email before a yearly plan renews.
• Prices may change; we’ll tell you at least 30 days before a change affects your renewal.

Your drawings

What you and your family draw belongs to you. You give Lapis permission to store it and show it to your household and to anyone you send a share link, only to provide the service. We don’t use your drawings for anything else.

Our lessons

The lessons, drawings and software are Lapis’s (and its licensors’). You may use them to learn and to draw for yourselves, and print step sheets for your household, but not copy, resell or redistribute them. Lesson drawings are made with the open-source anidoodle engine under the Apache 2.0 licence.

Fair use

Don’t misuse Lapis: no attempts to break its security, scrape it, overload it or use it to harm anyone. We may suspend accounts that do.

Changes and ending

You can delete your account whenever you like. We may change these terms; if a change matters, we’ll email you first. We may end the service with reasonable notice and a pro-rata refund.

Liability

Lapis is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before a claim.
