How to draw Cartoon Fox

A sitting red fox with a tail nearly as big as its body. Build it from a circle and a pear in light pencil, ink one clean outline, erase the pencil, then colour it with a shadow on the side away from the light.

How to draw Cartoon Fox

What you need

  • Paper Plain printer paper is perfect.
  • Pencil (HB) For light first shapes you can erase.
  • Black fineliner 0.5 mm, or any black pen.
  • Eraser A soft white eraser.
  • Coloured pencils Any set; sharpen them first.

Step by step

    With a light pencil, draw a circle for the head, a pear for the body and a curve for the tail.

    Add two big triangle ears, a line across the head for the eyes, and two columns for the front legs.

    Trace your best pencil lines with the fineliner: the fluffy head, ears, body, legs and the big tail.

    Add shiny eyes on the eye line, a black nose, a little mouth, the white muzzle and the chest fluff.

  5. Step 5: Erase the pencil

    Wait a minute for the ink to dry, then gently erase all the pencil lines.

  6. Step 6: Colour the fur

    Colour the fur orange. Leave the muzzle, chest and tail tip white, and give the legs dark socks.

    The light comes from the top left, so add red-orange shadow under the head, down the right side and inside the tail.
