How to draw Baby Dinosaur
A baby tyrannosaur standing with its tail out behind for balance. Build it from a bean, an egg and a tail curve, ink the back and tail in one long line, add spikes that shrink toward the tip, then colour it green and shade the side away from the light.

How to draw Baby Dinosaur
What you need
- Paper Plain printer paper is perfect.
- Pencil (HB) For light first shapes you can erase.
- Black fineliner 0.5 mm, or any black pen.
- Eraser A soft white eraser.
- Coloured pencils Any set; sharpen them first.
Step by step

01Big shapes
A bean, an egg and a tail
Lightly draw a bean for the head, a big tilted egg for the body and one long curve for the tail.

02Construction
Thigh, legs and a tiny arm
Add an oval thigh with a thick leg and foot under it, the far leg peeking out, a tiny arm and the belly line.

03Details
One long line for the back
Ink the head, then the back and tail in one long, smooth line that tapers to a point. Then the legs, arm and belly.

04Details
Face, spikes and belly lines
Add a big shiny eye, a nostril, a wide smile, triangle spikes along the back, lines across the belly stripe and toenails.

05Details
Erase the pencil
When the ink is dry, gently erase every pencil line, and brush the crumbs away.

06Colour
Green with a sandy belly
Colour the dinosaur apple green, the belly stripe sand and the spikes orange. Give it rosy cheeks, too.

07Finishing touches
Shadow underneath
Light comes from the top left. Shade the undersides dark green, darken the far leg, and add a shadow on the ground.
