How to draw Butterfly

A bright butterfly with its wings wide open. You will learn symmetry: draw every wing, circle and dot on one side, then draw it again in the same place on the other side, like a mirror.

How to draw Butterfly

What you need

  • Paper Plain printer paper is perfect.
  • Felt-tip markers Washable ones, with a black for outlines.
  • Crayons Wax crayons or oil pastels.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: Body and head

    Draw a long thin body down the middle, a round head and curly antennae.

    Draw a big wing on one side. Then draw the same wing on the other side.

  3. Step 3: Two smaller bottom wings

    Add a smaller wing under each big wing. Make them match, like a mirror.

    Draw a line inside the edge of each wing, like a frame. Match both sides.

    Put a big circle on each wing, then dots in the frames. Copy each one across.

  6. Step 6: Colour both sides the same

    Add a little dark purple on every wing, right next to the body.
