How to draw Sleepy Cat

Draw a ginger cat fast asleep on a cushion. You will build a lying-down animal from ovals, tuck its body behind its head, and wrap its tail round the front, the way a cat curls up to sleep.

How to draw Sleepy Cat

What you need

  • Paper Plain printer paper is perfect.
  • Felt-tip markers Washable ones, with a black for outlines.
  • Crayons Wax crayons or oil pastels.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: A sleepy head

    Draw a round head low down on the left. Your cat is lying down.

  2. Step 2: A curled-up body

    Draw a big bean-shaped body behind the head. Start and stop on the head.

  3. Step 3: A wrapped-up tail

    Draw the tail curling round the front, along the bottom of the body.

  4. Step 4: Ears and a sleepy face

    Add pointy ears, closed eyes like little smiles, a tiny nose, a mouth and whiskers.

    Draw a flat oval cushion under the cat. Stop your line wherever it meets the cat.

  6. Step 6: Colour your cat

    Colour the cat orange, the insides of the ears and nose pink, and the cushion purple.

    Stripes and Zs

    Add brown tabby stripes and three Zs floating up. Shh, kitty is asleep!
