How to draw Rain and Grass

A rain cloud, falling dots of rain and a row of grass. You will learn the first two marks every picture is made of, the dot and the straight line, and make a pale cloud dark just by pressing harder.

How to draw Rain and Grass

What you need

  • Paper Plain printer paper is perfect.
  • Felt-tip markers Washable ones, with a black for outlines.
  • Crayons Wax crayons or oil pastels.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: A rain cloud

    Draw a big cloud across the top of the page: bumpy on top, flat underneath.

  2. Step 2: Dots of rain

    Tap dots of rain under the cloud, in lines going straight down. Tap, tap, tap!

  3. Step 3: The ground

    The ground

    Draw one long straight line across the bottom of the page. That is the ground.

  4. Step 4: Grass stalks

    Start at the top and pull each grass line down. Stop on the ground line!

  5. Step 5: Soft, then hard

    Soft, then hard

    Colour the cloud grey. Press softly at the top and harder at the bottom.

  6. Step 6: Dot flowers

    Finishing touches

    Dot flowers

    Make it yours: add dot flowers to the grass. One dot, then dots all round it.
