How to draw Kite in the Wind

Draw a cross, join its ends, and you have a diamond kite. You will draw slanting lines that meet in sharp points, a straight string and a wavy tail, then press hard for bright colours and softly for the wind.

How to draw Kite in the Wind

What you need

  • Paper Plain printer paper is perfect.
  • Felt-tip markers Washable ones, with a black for outlines.
  • Crayons Wax crayons or oil pastels.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: A cross

    Draw a long line down. Then a shorter line across it, near the top.

  2. Step 2: A diamond

    Join the four ends with slanting lines. Now you have a diamond kite!

  3. Step 3: String and tail

    Pull a straight string down from the bottom point. Add a wavy tail blowing sideways.

  4. Step 4: Bows

    Add bows on the tail: two little triangles that touch at their points.

  5. Step 5: Press hard

    Press hard

    Press hard to colour the kite red and yellow, and the bows blue.

  6. Step 6: Soft wind

    Finishing touches

    Now press softly with light blue to draw swirly wind. Then make it yours!
